Lorraine Ireland Shield Premiers - Holy Trinity, pictured here with Runners up Cameron and Harry the Dog
Sunday 5th March saw our Women's Teams go head to head for glory in the Summer Season Grand Final Series.
Cameron and Holy Trinity vied for the Lorraine Ireland Shield in Division One after moving up from Division Two after Christmas. Cameron were unbeaten in every game they have played since their team began playing in October, winning seven straight in the Spring season including the Division Two Premiership, three in the Summer Season and four T10 matches including the Grand Final during the T10 Tournament in February. Holy Trinity came into the game as the underdogs, this being the first time the teams met during a fixtured season.
Batting first through inclement weather, Holy Trinity posted a very competitive 4/164. As the sun came out to play in the second innings, Cameron could only manage 109 in a dominant bowling and fielding display from the Trinners.
Heidelberg West played Preston YCW in the Lenore Smith Shield in Division Two, after moving down a division to rebuild. Heidelberg West entered the match in good form after participating in the T10 tournament final against Cameron, and winning every game in the Summer Season. This was Preston YCW’s first appearance in finals as they snuck in by .0036% over Dennis.
Heidelberg West posted a dominant 5/154 with marquee player Morgan Flinn making an 51*, before she took Preston YCW to task taking 6/19 in a truly dominant display of cricket. Preston YCW fought back from 7/29 to post a very credible 80 runs in their first ever finals appearance.
Congratulations to all teams on another wonderful season and a day of match winning Grand Final performances!
